GEMMINK

about.

My work always involves systems. I start with basic geometric shapes and the function of colors and functional trims. There is a modularity to my work that takes it beyond the body as a structure. Modularity forms the basis of my practice.

Exploring and inviting multiple bodies and contexts through re-creation and co-creation reflects on social issues and raises questions about behavior, interaction, and beliefs.

By inviting interaction with the work, I intend to forge connections.

Fashion is a medium; I push boundaries by creating works that can be placed in different contexts.

I draw on my interest in the (in)direct relationship between the body, the work, and the interaction it (may) require. I use human connections, interaction, and collaborations to activate the work and play with it.

I create tangible systems to deconstruct and reinterpret how we can approach these fashions. In my work, you will find order and chaos, and I invite you to play with that sense of order.
