In The Corners Of A Circle
about.
'In The Corners Of A Circle' is a critical reflection towards systems and beliefs. A “fashion” collection without defined looks and a “game” without a winner. It is about finding possibilities within limitations. An exploration of the tension between playing a game and to play. Both related to a context which sets the outlines and draws the 'rules'.
This body of work is urging to find new ways of dressing through collective experimentation.
This is an invitation to play.
process.
The base of the shapes all come from a 150x150 cm circle. Different grids are silkscreened onto the shapes with a repeated print.
The grids are the guide to how a shape can be formed. There are different routes on these shapes that show the possibilities of the shapes.
The uniforms were first cut into patterns and then printed witha stripe print. The patterns of the uniforms were sewn on the bias, giving a playful and unexpected effect once stitched.
All uniforms are based on the idea of fitting “ all,” using ribbons to adjust the size of thejacket and pants.
The head is constructable in its shape and can be built up as you play. Like the circle shapes, it can all be made into a flat piece of material.
This is done to create the possibility of “shaping” the pieces by those whoare playing. Ultimately in any way they wish.
performance.
In The Corners Of A Circle exists through collaboration. Collaboration with dancers allowed my work to speak for itself with the moving body as the medium.
The dancers became as important as the work itself, translating and expanding the pieces through body movements.
play!
In the installation, the work is activated by the interaction and co-creation of the visitors.
These interactions, captured with the physical material of a Polaroid, become part of an ongoing investigation into form, interaction and connection.
The invitation and exploration of multiple bodies and contexts through re- and co-creation reflects on social setting and raises questions on behaviour, interaction and beliefs. Through this interaction, people create connection to the work, the essence and each other. Everyone who partakes becomes part of a whole.

testimonial.
It was important to us to give a special mention to you for the most innovative collection, that brought to the stage a totally new approach to creating a ready-to-wear collection that bridges emotion through dance and self-expression. And encourage you to continue to do approach design the way you approach design…
